    THE FLORIDA BAR SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR STATEWIDE NOMINATING COMMISSION FOR JUDGES OF COMPENSATION CLAIMS -- DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MARCH 6

    Statewide Nominating Commission for Judges of Compensation Claims (2nd Appellate District): One lawyer from the territorial jurisdiction of the second state appellate district to serve a four-year term commencing July 2, 2017. All applicants must be members of the Bar who are engaged in the practice of law. No attorney who appears before any judge of compensation claims more than four times a year is eligible to serve on the commission, pursuant to F.S. §440.45(2)(b). Commissioners are also not eligible for state judicial vacancies filled by the JNC on which they sit for two years following the expiration of their term. Commissioners are subject to Florida financial disclosure laws. Meetings and deliberations are open to the public.

    SIXTH CIRCUIT JNC SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR CIRCUIT COURT VACANCY

    The Sixth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is seeking applications for nomination for a judicial vacancy in the Pinellas Circuit Court, following the resignation of the Hon. Walter L. “Skip” Schafer.

    Before assuming the office of circuit court judge, applicants must be able to fulfill the constitutional qualifications, which require the person to be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, a resident of the Sixth Judicial Circuit and a registered voter in the state of Florida.

    Application forms for the judgeship may be downloaded from The Florida Bar's website, www.floridabar.org. Applications also can be obtained from Commission Chairman Ian R. Leavengood, whose address and email address appear below. As of Aug. 1, 2014, changes were made to the Application for Judicial Seat, including but not limited to the requirement to complete a Form 6, Full and Public Disclosure of Financial Interest. Applicants must complete the current Application for Judicial Seat.

    The original completed application with attachments, one copy of the original with attachments that has been redacted as required by the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, a flash drive with both original and redacted applications with attachments, and a recent photo must be physically delivered to Ian R. Leavengood, Chairman, at the address below no later than noon on Monday, March 13, 2017. Incomplete applications and applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
